We’ve just returned from catering at an enjoyable wedding in Cheshire where we were providing crepes as an alternative to canapes. We always enjoy offering this service as we are always very much appreciated – we are yet to attend a wedding where guests are not absolutely ravenous by this point in the day. When guests return from the marriage ceremony to be greeted by a mobile crepe stand they are always very happy – and we work very hard indeed to serve everyone. The fact that a wedding breakfast is usually imminent doesn’t seem to change anything and guests will happily order a hearty savoury crepe as an alternative to the lunch they missed.
At this particular wedding, there were quite a number of glamorous guests (which is fairly common at Cheshire weddings.) We got talking with one of the guests and the question ” what crepe would a supermodel order if she was attending the wedding today?” somehow found it’s way into the conversation.
The woman we were talking to thought that a supermodel would probably order something light and ‘summery’, such as a sugar and lemon. There is a certain amount of logic in that, but our experience has shown that as weddings are special occasions, it is not uncommon for people to watch what they eat in the run up to the wedding, in order to be able to “let themselves go” and relax a bit on the big day itself. So we suggested that a supermodel would therefore probably opt for a nutella crepe. On reflection we now think she would probably go for nutella and strawberry, simply because adding the fruit makes it seem less indulgent than just ordering pure chocolate and it is easier to convince yourself that you are in fact taking the healthy option if you can include one of the recommended ‘five a day’ at the same time!
Whether the imaginary supermodel would return for a second pancake is something we could only speculate about. We know for a fact that our crepes are very addictive – we have been making them professionally for over ten years and we still aren’t bored of eating them ourselves. We are regularly told that we make the best crepes guests have ever tried ( we used to be embarrassed about this, but now we just accept it!) And we often serve guests with more than one crepe. But whether a supermodel would save herself for the wedding breakfast, or whether she would enjoy her nutella and strawberry one so much she would have to go for a Milky Bar and Baileys (as dessert) we can only speculate.
However, if you happen to be a supermodel and you are reading this (and we like to think that the great and the good enjoy regularly reading this blog, even if deep down we know the truth ) it would be great if you could offer an answer to the question: “Would a supermodel at a wedding eat more than one crepe?”
