Fans of this blog (and there are literally thousands of you out there) will be aware that we wrote a post a while ago describing a wedding we attended with our mobile creperie near Cirencester which had a real-life ukulele wedding band providing the evening entertainments. And very entertaining they were too. Well we’ve heard of a similar wedding-themed ukulele connection, this time in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
It seems that the couple, who met after joining a local Beatles tribute band called The Beatleleles (where Beatles and other 60’s songs are performed on ukuleles) decided to entertain their guests by playing a couple of Beatles songs on ukuleles – in the church, at the ceremony!
Now we’ve seen some unusual things at weddings in Cheshire (and other places too!) but that would be a first for us. Some people regard hiring a mobile crepe stand for a wedding as being unusual (but in a good way) and it certainly is something which helps define a wedding. But the bride and groom playing ukuleles at the ceremony takes things to a different level.
It seems that the couple also left the church to a ukulele “guard of honour”, with guests holding aloft ukuleles for them to pass under, which must have made for quite a sight, but ultimately it’s all about the music and in my personal opinion, choosing a Beatles song to perform at your wedding ceremony is a great choice (however, if it was a Rolling Stones song, I’d have to think about it)
The couple chose “Real Love” (a John Lennon composition) but could easily have chosen from a large selection of love-related Beatles songs. But this got us thinking: surely there must be some Beatles-appropriate songs relating to crepes? Or pancakes? Or, at a stretch, crepes at weddings? So we browsed through our CD collection and our menu this is all we could come up with:
John Lemon (and sugar)
(Nutella and) Strawberry Fields Forever
Golden (syrup) Slumbers.
Please let us know if we have missed any obvious ones.
