With the weather taking a turn for the worse, we began thinking about the “winter season 2016” weddings we have ahead of us where we will be serving crepes from our mobile creperie. We get to see lots of different styles of weddings, lots of different ideas and lots of different twists on regular themes. In fact, in some cases the only similarity among the weddings we see is the fact they are having crepe catering!
Last year, at a wedding near Windsor (on the outskirts of London), we were at a very well thought-out wedding, where the bride had gone to great lengths to have a winter wonderland theme running throughout the day, with every detail having a wintry twist – even our illuminated mobile crepe stand was displaying an icy blue colour to match the winter wedding theme.
As we are involved in wedding catering (and also interested in art and artistic matters), we were drawn to the table place-name holders which were quite eye-catching and certainly looked “wedding-appropriate” – basically, they were pine cones spraeyd a silver colour, fairly similar to those pictured below:

Whether the bride had done the spraying herself (it is quite likely as she was definitley the artistic type) or whether they had been bought, the results were impressive and added a nice touch to the day. We find that even small details like this can make weddings memorable and help them stand out from the rest.
The bride at this particular wedding in Surrey had hand-written the names onto the cards herself and was fairly competent at calligraphy so she had managed to do a good job (top tip: if you aren’t artistic and want hand-written place cards, then hire a calligrapher. Some home-made ones we see don’t look too great…).
The combination of some fairly competent copperplate written on heavy duty ivory-coloured card held within a unique, sprayed silver cone, added the required winter vibe the bride was seeking and defnitely put the guests in the mood for a celebratory winter wedding pancake!
