Could you eat 16 crepes? What about at a wedding?

July 6, 2016Original CrêpesUncategorized

Because we run a wedding-based mobile crepes business, people we know keep us updated with everything they come across crepe-related. Not all of it is immediately understandable by us, the latest update being one example.

A friend of ours from America sent us a link to a TV show which featured a comedian – Maya Rudolph -spoofing a magazine editor – Anna Wintour – discussing how she once ate 16 crêpes. Firstly, we have to confess that we know neither of these people. We are probably massively out-of-touch, but we’ve never even heard of them. So the joke may have been funny, or it may not, but we certainly couldn’t offer an opinion on that.

But what interested us was the idea of eating 16 crêpes. Now we’ve seen some pretty impressive eating-feats at weddings. Some people can tuck away crepe after crêpe (and because we offer an unlimited* amount, we don’t mind that – we take it to mean our crepes are very good!) At some weddings, where the catering is, shall we say, a little thin on the ground, we find the guests can be absolutely starving and they seem to see our mobile creperie as the equivalent of an oasis in the desert (or dessert, perhaps).

Some brides even phone us and say: “I want to hire crepes for my wedding and I know my guests will be absolutely starving!” But even so, we are yet to find a guests who even comes close to scoffing sixteen. And if we did, we may have to consider our unlimited* policy!

One thing which did interest us though, is that as we offer twenty flavours as standard at weddings, if you could only choose sixteen, which four would you leave out?

Personally I would probably miss out the banana options first. They would probably be too filling if I was on an eating challenge. I would still go for a nutella option, but just miss out on the banana.

As this would be taking place in the context of a wedding, I’d probably be doing OK for alcohol anyway, so I’d definitely give the Grand Marnier crepe a miss. It’s a pity as it is always very popular choice from our mobile crepe stand at weddings, but it would have to miss out this time around.

So as a bit of fun, why not take a look at our crepe menu and consider which flavours you would miss out on if you were Maya Rudolph doing an impression of Anna Wintour.

And after you’ve given that some thought, you could ask yourself which crepes you think would enjoy at your own wedding?
