Gareth Bale, World-famous footballer of Real Madrid and Wales fame has this week confessed that one of his favourite comfort foods is a nutella crepe. Despite his hairstyle suggesting otherwise, the man clearly has taste!
Following an unlucky defeat to England in the Euro 2016 football championships earlier this week, Bale has admitted that the Wales squad were permitted to enjoy nutella pancakes as a pick-me-up following the disappointing 2-1 loss.
“It was something we definitely needed. We are eating very well at the hotel, but that is quite strict. So it is nice to get a change and it lightens everyone’s mood. I had a nice dessert as well, a crepe with Nutella.” said Bale.
So there we have it. Even the great and the good – the guys on a million pounds a week or whatever their wages are – still enjoy a nice nutella crepe as a treat. And with nutella comprising 55% sugar, it’s no surprsie that there is an almost instant feel-good effect after scoffing one down.
But much like Yellow Pages, nutella crêpes aren’t just there for the nasty things in life. A nutella crêpe can also enhance a happy occasion to the point of euphoria.
Take weddings for example. There is no happier occasion in life than a wedding. Every bride and groom aim to have the best wedding there has ever been – for it to be the happiest and most memorable occasion possible. So as the day progresses, with the cermony been and gone and the main course of the wedding breakfast having been consumed, surely the best way to take the day into the stratosphere is to offer your guests a nutella crêpe (or milky bar if they prefer. Or Baileys and Buttons. Or any one of twenty different options from our menu).
A nutella crepe at a wedding is the icing on the cake. It’s the only way to take an already exceptional wedding to the next level (although if you add fresh strawberries or chopped banana to your nutella, then your guests could very well reach such ecstatic states, they might never come down).
So whilst we commiserate with Gareth Bale on his footballing defeat, we also admire his taste in comfort food. And we would recommend that should Gareth ever decide to marry his long term girlfriend he should definitely invite Original Crêpes to his wedding. We are confident he will find our nutella crêpes in the Galactico realm.
